BVM Gives Back: United Way Kit Packing
Best Version Media employees came together this month to pack personal hygiene kits for families in need across the state of Wisconsin. In coordination with United Way, BVM employees packed 100 kits that included baby wipes, toothpaste, toothbrushes, socks, towels, shampoo, soap and more. United Way offers several on-site kit-packing volunteer opportunities to accommodate the urgent needs of their local nonprofit partners each year.
We’re proud to support two incredible organizations this year with our hygiene kits. Our Home Office in Brookfield packed kits to support Independence First while our Green Bay office packed kits to benefit Howe Community Resource Center.
Independence First is located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and offers more than 40 workshops, programs and services for people with disabilities. The organization provides art and cooking classes, personal care support, benefits counseling, home modification, home care services and much more. Independence First advocates for change and inclusivity by helping people stay or move into an independent living situation rather than an institution. Over half of the team at Independence First is composed of people with disabilities of their own, and this peer–led approach has led to outstanding results over the years.
Howe Community Resource Center (HCRC), located in Green Bay, Wisconsin, builds a strong and resilient community through education and support to children and their families. HCRC provides services to Howe Elementary School children as well as parenting education and support to young, at-risk families in Brown County. The organization strives to increase school attendance and parental engagement so that students have a greater chance at academic success. HCRC also offers mental health programs and home visitations for families with young children to ensure a safe, healthy and ready-to-learn environment.
Our people at BVM understand the importance of making a positive difference in the community. By taking just a few minutes out of the workday, we were able to support local families who are truly in need of a helping hand. BVM employees exemplify the meaning of having a compassionate heart – one of the three founding pillars of our award-winning culture at Best Version Media.
We want to sincerely thank United Way for coordinating this volunteer opportunity and we’re excited to continue giving back as the year moves along!
